The university runs a range of employment initiatives including internships voluntary opportunities careers and employability advisory service Language Express and JobShop.

What's new


The University of Kent has been ranked amongst the best fifty universities across the UK by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide in 2021. The university has also attained a top 10 ranking in a variety of subjects including history of art, social policy and social work. Its anthropology architecture art and design communications and media German law linguistics theology and sociology subjects were ranked in the top 20 across the UK.

Virtual event

These events allows students to meet the international team, talk to specialist academics and current students and learn more about the courses available. There will also be information on scholarships, accommodation, wellbeing and study support at the University of Kent. All international students are welcome to attend.

New medical school

The new Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS) welcomed its first students. Students at KMMS will study at the bespoke facilities in the Canterbury campuses and will be able to carry out work placements within the Kent and Medway communities. The school is proud to maintain a global faculty that unites local, national and international knowledge and expertise.

Together the staff aim to give all students a great understanding of patient-centred practices across all settings. This is from GP to hospital and ensures that they appreciate the benefits of working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams comprised of members from different professional backgrounds.

Art and design degrees

The new art and design degrees allow students to develop their own design identity and bring their creative ideas to life.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

For undergraduate applicants

Applications for full-time undergraduate courses must be made through UCAS Apply or through Kent's direct application route for students that have not applied via UCAS and do not intend to do so.

International students can also apply through UCAS with the assistance of one of Kent's overseas representatives. Kent's dedicated international recruitment team can help students track their application and are a permanent point of contact for all student enquiries.

For postgraduate applicants

Students can apply directly online for all of Kent's postgraduate courses. International students should check for country-specific entry requirements.

For foundation programme applicants

If a student's education or experience has not given them the qualifications, study skills or English language ability that they need for undergraduate study, Kent offers two types of foundation programmes which enable progression onto a wide range of undergraduate degrees. The International Foundation Programme (IFP) and four-year integrated programmes both include a foundation year. The University of Kent's beautiful Canterbury campus is located within three hundred acres of pristine parkland which overlooks Canterbury Cathedral, which is the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The campus is accessible within an hour by train from the capital of London and is only 25 minutes by foot from the city centre of Canterbury.

The campus is a self-contained and secure site, and students will also be able to benefit from excellent-quality student accommodation, state of the art teaching facilities, a large library, sports centres and exercise facilities, a nightclub, a cinema, as well as a range of eateries, bars, shops, and more.

The University of Kent's Medway campus is located just a short trip from London and was built through the revitalisation and transformation of a former naval base. Now, the site is a cutting-edge study space fit for students of the 21st century and hosts outstanding support services and facilities.

The campus is known for its lively and vibrant atmosphere and a welcoming community of students and staff. There are loads of opportunities for students at the Medway campus to get involved in sports, student society activities or a range of social or interest-related activities. Scholarships & funding

Scholarships & funding

To support students as they expand their knowledge and develop their ideas, Kent offers a range of funding opportunities. These include taught and research student scholarships, location-specific awards, sport and music scholarships.

Each year the university offers dedicated scholarships for its international students. These include scholarships at undergraduate and postgraduate level towards the cost of tuition fees per year of study and are available to nationals of any country paying overseas fees.

The University of Kent is pleased to offer the British Council GREAT scholarships in collaboration with the British Council, these are worth GBP 10,000 each year. For 2021 these will be available to Chinese, Indian, Kenya, Egyptian and Ghanaian passport holders who have applied to a taught master's programme based at one of the universities UK campuses.

Together with The Bestway Foundation, Kent offers several scholarships to students from and domiciled in Pakistan, applying to postgraduate one year master's programmes in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
