Mater Christi College
Mater Christi College is a Catholic girls' secondary school, which takes its direction from the person and message of Christ as proclaimed in the gospels. In a caring atmosphere of Christian love and understanding, which encourages excellence in all things, the College provides educational programmes relevant to the individual needs of its students. Mater Christi College was established in its present location overlooking Belgrave in 1963. The College is situated in a green mountain landscape in the Dandenong Ranges, its superb location a catalyst for environmental education projects and for developing student’s awareness of the beauty of creation and the need for all to treasure the earth's resources. Their Mission Statement calls them to be educationally innovative. This means that they are always looking to create new opportunities, resources and ideas to excite students and teachers alike. They are very proud of their International Student Program. Since 1989, students of all religions and cultural backgrounds have been welcomed and supported through the challenging and rewarding experience of studying overseas in a second language. They enjoy and value the diversity that international students bring to their community.
The College respects the traditions and spirit of its founders, the Sisters of the Good Samaritan, and strives to be organizationally and educationally innovative to meet the challenge of a rapidly changing society. Through the balanced growth of the whole person, Mater Christi aims to develop informed and compassionate women of faith who will take part freely and creatively in the affairs of society. They are committed to providing a safe and exciting learning environment and when help is needed, students can find support through Pastoral Group teachers, Year Level Co-ordinators, College Psychologist, Careers Counsellor, Nurses, Heads of School, Computer Services.
Mater Christi has a beautiful site in the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges in Belgrave and the College can be seen on the hilltop above the Belgrave township. They are just a short walk, up the hill from Belgrave Railway Station and Bus Terminus.
