The University of Greenwich equips students with employable skills and the confidence to achieve extraordinary things. The institution welcomes students from over 160 countries across its three campuses in London and Kent.

Rated amongst the greenest universities in the UK, its largest campus is based in the heart of Greenwich on a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Expert faculties teach over 200 undergraduate courses and 150 postgraduate courses, many of which are accredited. The university's four faculties cover liberal arts and sciences business education and health as well as engineering and science. The main intakes begin when most courses start in September, however, some courses have intakes in January and April.

The University of Greenwich boasts modern facilities across three campuses. Over the last five years, it has invested almost GBP 80 million in labs, social and teaching spaces, as well as sports facilities. Students have access to a range of academic facilities, including well-stocked libraries, TV studios, editing suites, and clinical skills laboratories that replicate NHS wards. Social facilities on campus include student bars, a gym and countless coffee shops and restaurants.

Giving students the best chance of securing their dream jobs after graduation, the university has a dedicated Employability and Careers Service team. Its services include one-to-one meetings with a career advisor, CV writing advice and information on internships and voluntary work.

Because several of the university's courses are accredited by professional bodies, its high teaching standards are recognised. This accreditation provides employers with the confidence that the student has achieved a high-quality qualification. What's new

The university's Natural Resources Institute (NRI) has received the Further and Higher Education award for its world-leading pest control work.

Since the start of the 20th century, NRI has been conducting vital research and implementing major pest management programmes and innovations.

The institute has created ground-breaking, smart solutions for tackling pests that cause plague, famine and disease that impacts human, animal and plant environments, especially in the developing world. This has included radical work on locust plagues in Africa. Over the past 50 years, it has built on its pioneering work, specialising in pest behaviour, and designing specific solutions to control them.

Its latest pest management programme looked at four key areas including the issue of blackflies transmitting 'river blindness'. The NRI's work in this area contributed to the elimination of river blindness in 11 countries in West Africa, prevented 600,000 people from going blind and re-claimed 250,000 square kilometres of abandoned land for cultivation and resettlement.

NRI's programme also focused on rodents spreading disease and destroying crops and infrastructure mosquitoes transmitting dangerous diseases including malaria, dengue and Zika and insect pests threatening the horticulture industry.

The Further and Higher Education award recognised the academic excellence and practical application of NRI's work, and that it encouraged students to become future leaders in their field.

Teaching Quality

The University of Greenwich has been recognised by several prestigious organisations for its teaching excellence.

The University of Greenwich has received nine Times Higher Education Awards, including for outstanding engineering research, most innovative teacher, outstanding international strategy, and outstanding contribution to innovation and technology. It has also received four Queen's Anniversary Prizes for Higher and Further Education and two Guardian University Awards.

The university's worldwide campuses and partner colleges are home to over 38,000 international students from more than 160 countries. They are taught by specialist teaching staff who have comprehensive knowledge of their chosen industries.

Many of the university's courses are accredited by professional bodies including the ACCA, the Royal Institute of British Architects, Engineering Accreditation Board, BCS – The Chartered Institute for IT as well as the Institution of Engineering and Technology.

Over the last five years, the University of Greenwich has invested over GBP 80 million in campus facilities. This includes libraries, computing, student centres and sports facilities. The libraries boast working spaces, group study rooms, computers, and thousands of books.

There has also been an additional investment for computing facilities and teaching spaces in the Dreadnought Building. Reopened in 2018 after a GBP 25 million makeover, it now houses the Greenwich Students' Union, a gym and social space.

The University of Greenwich provides high-quality courses across numerous faculties and schools. Its faculties include:

Business School

Offering courses accredited by professional bodies, the school provides an engaging learning environment led by expert academic staff from across the world. The school has strong industry links and works closely with employers to ensure its programmes remain relevant. The Business School offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes with an industry placement that enables students to apply their knowledge and gain practical experience.

Faculty of Education & Health

Faculty of Engineering & Science

The faculty includes the academic disciplines of engineering, science and pharmacy, as well as the Natural Resources Institute (NRI). Located at the Medway campus, the Faculty of Engineering and Science is responsible for the majority of the university's academic provision. Faculty of Engineering & Science offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes with an industry placement that enables students to gain invaluable skills and work experience.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

International applicants can either apply to the University of Greenwich via an authorised in-country representative or directly through a free online form.

To be considered for a course, international applicants need to submit the following:

  • English language qualifications (IELTS score of 6.0 for undergraduate courses and 6.5 for postgraduate courses).
  • Full academic transcripts
  • Personal statement
  • References
  • Other documents that might be required for their chosen course.

Entry requirements vary depending on the course, and all admissions offers are sent electronically to either the agent or directly to the student's e-mail account.

If applicants meet their chosen programme's criteria, they may receive an unconditional offer from the university.

Conditional offers will be made to applicants who do not yet meet the specific entry requirements, including if academic qualifications still need to be completed. If applicants do not meet course requirements, they may also be offered a place on a more suitable programme or have the chance to apply for the University of Greenwich International College (UGIC).

Depending on the course applied for, applicants may need to meet country-specific requirements.

Alternative English tests such as TOEFL, PTE Academic, GCSE English or WAEC English Language are also considered. If the applicant does not meet the English language requirements, they can take OIETC Test available online.

The university provides a wide selection of world-class facilities. This includes:


University accommodation is guaranteed for most students with a safe and secure environment. Accommodation is located within a walking distance from campus and a student shuttle service is available for students across campuses.

There are around 2,400 hall places on or near its campuses, including:

  • On-site gym, cafe, shop and laundrette
  • Free on-campus gym membership and access to ActiveGRE activities
  • 24/7 security staff and residential support

Students who will be under the age of 18 during their first year of study will be offered alternative housing options by the accommodation services team.

Dreadnought Building

A central hub for students, the Dreadnought Building is home to the Students' Union. It boasts plenty of spaces to study and socialise, including gyms, cafes, and an events area in the basement.

Sports facilities

Sport plays a big part in university life, and all campuses have fully equipped gyms. The Avery Hill campus also has a specialist sports centre with two floodlit all-weather sports pitches and a five-court sports hall.

Stockwell Street & Drill Hall Library

The University of Greenwich's two libraries are well-stocked with books and learning resources. The Drill Hall library provides 400 computers, training rooms and several group study areas, while in-depth academic support from essay writing to study skills are provided by the academic skills team at the Stockwell Street library. All libraries provide a safe and secure environment in line with Covid-19 restrictions.

Transport links

All three campuses have brilliant transport links. The intercampus bus services which run between Greenwich and Avery Hill is free, and there is a small fee between Medway Campus and the other sites.

Both Greenwich and Avery Hill campuses offer quick connections to central London via bus and train, and Medway Campus is just 45-minutes away by train.

Scholarships & funding

Scholarships & funding

International students can receive a range of financial support through scholarships and funding options. This includes:

International Scholarship Award

Every year, the University of Greenwich's International Scholarship Award is awarded to the brightest and best international students in the form of a tuition fee reduction. Applicants need to be international students holding an offer for a full-time course paying the fees at the international rate.

EU Bursary

New EU students will be supported by EU Bursary in the form of tuition fee reduction for their first year of study. Applicants need to be EU students holding an offer for a full-time course.

Discount for full payment

International students can receive a five per cent discount on their net tuition fees. To achieve this discount, students need to make the full payment before 30th September for courses starting in September and before 31st January for January starters.

Alumni Progression Bursary

International applicants for postgraduate courses can apply for a tuition fee reduction if they complete an undergraduate degree at either University of Greenwich or a partner college. A 20 per cent tuition fee reduction will be given if the applicant holds a first-class or upper second-class undergraduate degree. A 10 per cent reduction will be awarded if the applicant achieves a lower second-class degree or completes an Erasmus placement with the university.
