THE World ranking

The University of Western Australia (UWA) was established in 1911 as the State's first university. As the only Western Australian University in the Group of Eight, UWA is a research-intensive institution and home to globally recognized scholars such as Nobel Laureate Professor Barry Marshall. It has more than 75 research and training centres and receives about 80 per cent of all research funding to WA universities annually.

At UWA, students can study one of five bachelor's degrees, Arts, Biomedical Science, Commerce, Science or Philosophy (Honours). All bachelor?s degrees consist of 24 units, comprising majors, core units and a mix of additional units. Students can choose to complete one or two majors, each of which consists of eight core units.

The suburb of Crawley, just 10 minutes from the Perth central business district, is home to the main campus of The University of Western Australia. It has a regional campus in the south-coast town of Albany, a four-and-half-hour drive from Perth.
