Australia
Overview

Overview

Ranked number one in Australia for student experience for the 14th year in a row, Bond University maintains its strong reputation as one of the world's best educational institutions. Recognised internationally as a leading non-profit university, with 100 percent of student fees reinvested in its world class facilities and improved student learning experiences, the university maintains a 94.8 percent overall student satisfaction rating.

Bond University offers its international students from more than 80 countries around the world access to more than 200 different degrees. With a student population under 5,000 students, half are international students. Those who undertake study at Bond benefit from the 10:1 student-teacher ratio, which remains the lowest in Australia.

In 2019, the University achieved five-star QS ratings across inclusiveness, facilities, internationalisation, teaching, social responsibility and employability. The 2020 Good Universities Guide ranked the university five stars across overall quality of education, teaching quality, skills development, student support, learning resources, student retention, student teacher ratio and learner engagement highlighting the quality of Bond University's educational offering.

Located on the Gold Coast, Australia's sixth largest and fastest growing city, students can benefit from not only the diverse sightseeing and local attractions situated on the doorsteps of the University's campus, but also the warm year-long climate. With an average of 300 days of sunshine, and temperatures between 15- 25 degrees, students can enjoy the 57km coastline just 20 minutes from the campus. The Gold Coast is classified as a regional city for migratory purposes, which means graduates will be eligible to access an additional year in Australia by securing a three-year post-study work visa.

What's new

What's new

In its 30-year history, Bond has celebrated its most successful year of mooting. 2019 included six competitions the university won along with nine individual oralist awards.

Louise Parsons, Director of Mooting said, ''It has been our best year of mooting ever. The students really fly the flag for our university and they are right up there with the best in Australia and the best in the world. We aren't defined by trophies and winning competitions because you can have a great competition and not win, but it certainly has been a very pleasing year.''

Parsons added, ''The support from alumni has been amazing. We had alumni come in on weekends, after hours, take annual leave and help in all manners of ways, from coaching, judging, to playing beach cricket. There is an immediate sense of connection amongst the Bondies past and present and it is great that we have such a strong connection with them and they are still a strong part of what we do.

''For 2020 we want to build on the momentum and hopefully keep the depth of talent. Doing well in mooting does attract students to Bond. Anecdotally, students have told me they come to Bond to compete in mooting. We have a big program and a small student cohort, so there are opportunities for our students to thrive,'' Parsons concluded.

Teaching quality

Teaching quality

Bond's student-teacher ratio of 10:1 is among Australia's lowest and its lecturers always have their doors open for students. This ensures students get more personalised, hands-on support for their studies. Its annual teaching calendar comprises three semesters per year in January, May and September, unlike the usual two, allowing students to complete their degrees in less time than at other universities.

Bond ensures its students involve themselves in the application of the theory they learn, as it strongly believes that students cannot learn all that they need from a textbook alone.

Its academics are industry experts who liaise with governments globally, are consultants to major companies, present at international conferences and conduct ground-breaking research. Students will have the opportunity to learn from their real-life case studies and from the industry leaders who visit the campus as mentors and guest lecturers.

Bond breaks down the barrier between the classroom and the real world with its focus on offering opportunities for practical experience such as clinical placements, internships, projects, study tours, global competitions and more.

Bond Business students can learn from start-ups and entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley as part of an overseas study tour, and its law students can participate in mooting competitions in Beijing, Hong Kong, Canada and Queensland's Supreme Court. In addition, students across a range of disciplines have gained internships around the world in cities like Washington D.C., Paris, London and New York.

''My experience at Bond has been amazing. Being able to finish my combined degree up to a year ahead of the rest and the high-quality teaching and learning environments drove me to come to Bond. The small classes here have allowed me to engage more with other students and have better relationships with my lecturers. The staff are incredibly kind and helpful which helped me to adjust into a whole new environment very quickly.''
