Murdoch University was formally established in 1973 by an Act of the Western Australian Parliament to meet the growing higher education needs of the community. Murdoch is a truly international, research-led university full of free thinking students. Murdoch University is a strong performer in a number of research areas, including primary food production, resources, the environment and their management, and human and animal health. At Murdoch they have more than 22,000 students and over 2,000 staff, including 2,000 overseas students from around 100 countries studying in Perth and another 8000 studying offshore. The university’s main campus is set in a beautiful bush environment and covers over 227 hectares, making it one of the largest campuses in Australia. It also campuses in Rockingham and the Mandurah region. Murdoch University has a range of facilities in its campuses including a comprehensive vet hospital, engineering pilot plant, a chiropractic clinic, Media Arts centre, numerous computing labs and a wireless network.
