What is Clearing and who can use it? 

Clearing is a way for the student to submit a late application for university courses starting September 2024.  You can use UCAS Clearing, if: 

  • You didn’t achieve the grades required for your university choices. 

  • You changed your mind about your choice of university and course. 

  • You have applied through UCAS but have not received any offers. 

  • You have received better grades than predicted and now want to apply to a different university. 

  • You didn’t apply before 30th June but have now decided to enrol for Sep 2024.

When does Clearing start and end? 

The clearing is open from 5 July and closes on 21 October 2024. 

When can you apply through UCAS Clearing?  

UCAS Clearing opens on 6 July. Universities will publish their lists of courses with spaces still available for students to apply for. You can consider applying to more than one university. However, there will be a deadline by which you might need to accept the offers and hence you will need to confirm one as your firm choice. Clearing can also be a great opportunity to get on to a course or go to a university that you may not have previously considered.
