Revamped international student centre opens in Melbourne CBD
Melbourne-based international students have a new space to learn about their study options and meet new friends as IDP officially reopened its Lonsdale Street centre today.
The centre, which features an eight-metre Melbourne-themed mural created by Swinburne University students, provides support services and English language test support.
James Cauchy, IDP Regional Director - Australasia, said the office reopening celebrates more than a new fit out.
“IDP Education is transforming our services to better connect us with our customers, both online and in person, at all stages of their international education journey,” Mr Cauchy said.
“Our customers can visit this space to speak with someone they can trust on how best to navigate student-life in a new city.
“It is the opportunities for students to socialise and feel part of a connected community that we are most excited about in this new space.
"The centre's expert team offer course guidance, accommodation, insurance and banking advice, visa assistance and English language test preparation support.”
IDP Education, a world-leading international education specialist, will host regular cultural and social events in the space to help students overcome the social challenges that come with studying away from family and friend support networks.
“The centre also features a courtyard which has been designed by students, for students,” Mr Cauchy said.
“Students can stop by any time and take a break from studies in a relaxed and supportive environment.”
The office reopening coincides with IDP Education’s 50th anniversary.
The Melbourne-based company, a global leader in helping international students study overseas and co-owner of the IELTS English language proficiency test, is using the milestone to celebrate the generations of people who have enriched their lives through international education.
“Today’s opening was another opportunity to celebrate Generation IDP, our ambitious customers who have used their global education as a platform for career success,” Mr Cauchy said.
“For 50 years, we have helped more than half a million people study in their ideal course, and we are excited to assist more students achieve success, right here from Melbourne.”
The centre is located at 373 Lonsdale St, Melbourne VIC 3000 and is open Monday to Saturday.
