ONCAMPUS UK North

The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) recently announced plans to significantly increase provision in its Burnley campus. The ambitious plans will see the number of University students in the town rise from under 400 to 2,000 by 2021 and 4,000 by 2025.

Working in collaboration with its strategic partners Burnley Borough Council and East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, and alongside the Burnley Bondholders group of influential local business leaders, the provision will be designed to meet the existing and emerging needs of Burnley and across the East Lancashire region. Subject areas will include a range of business and professional disciplines, health and social care, and digital and technical provision, and will include degree apprenticeships as well as traditional degrees at both undergraduate and master's levels.

The new provision will be distributed across the University’s existing Burnley Campus, Burnley General Hospital and the newly acquired Victoria Mill (subject to contract).

Undergraduate Foundation Programme (UFP)

This one-year (3 term) programme offers successful students guaranteed progression to UCLan.Students will study their Foundation programme at the state-of-the-art Centre located at the heart of the UCLan campus. The 4-term extended UFP is available to start in June or September.

This programme gives guaranteed progression to Year 1 of a wide range of undergraduate degrees. It is designed to prepare international students, who have completed senior secondary education, for entry to undergraduate studies at UCLan. All students who successfully complete the UFP are guaranteed placement on a suitable programme of undergraduate study at UCLan. The UFP is set at level 3, which is equivalent to A-level standard in the UK.

This programme lasts one academic year (nine months). The year is divided into three terms of seven to eight teaching weeks and one reading week. Students will undertake up to 25 hours of classroom-based study per week.

This programme gives students the opportunity to apply for Year 1 of the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). Students who are successful on the Undergraduate Foundation Programme, at the MBBS interview and have undertaken a volunteer placement prior to applying for the MBBS, may be able to progress to the five-year MBBS at UCLan.

This programme is designed to prepare international students, who have completed senior secondary education and met the academic requirements listed, to apply for undergraduate study for a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree at UCLan.

The duration of the programme is one academic year. The year is divided into two terms of seven to eight teaching weeks, a final term of up to 12 weeks, one reading week, and an assessment week.

You will undertake 22 hours of classroom or lab-based study per week. Students will be supported to undertake volunteering placements in a health and social care setting while they study this programme.

This programme includes four core modules, taken by all students throughout the course. These modules are: Biology, Chemistry, Maths and English.

Master's Foundation Programme (MFP)

The Master’s Foundation Programme is available as a two or three-term programme, with guaranteed progression to a wide range of Master’s degrees at UCLan. Students will live and study their Foundation programme at the state-of-the-art Centre located at the heart of the UCLan campus.

This programme is designed to prepare international students for postgraduate study in the UK. The Master’s Foundation will allow them to improve their English while learning the study skills and research methods that they will need during their Master’s degree studies. Depending on the length of the programme they study, students may also study academic modules relating to their chosen progression route.

Each term is divided into seven to eight teaching weeks, one reading week and an assessment week. Students will undertake up to 25 hours of classroom-based study per week.

How to Apply:

• Students must fill in the online application form or download the editable application form.
• Students must remember to include all relevant documentation: academic transcripts (with translations if not originally in English), evidence of English level, and passport. Other documentation may be required depending on the course the Admissions Team will advise.
• To accept their place on the course, students will need to meet all the remaining conditions, including payment of the deposit/registration fee or proof of government sponsorship.
• Once students have paid their deposit and met all the conditions of offer, ONCAMPUS UK North will confirm their place and send them a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance to Study) or a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).
• Students will need to pay at least the first term’s tuition fees before they begin their programme of study.
• Students must arrive on the weekend before the arrival date.
