MSU researchers to send computer prototype to the moon
NASA announced a Montana State University team has won a coveted spot on a 2020-2021 lunar mission that will be the biggest trial yet for the radiation-tolerant computing concept LaMeres, conceived more than a decade ago. The team is being led by Brock LaMeres, a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at MSU. As part of the current mission, LaMeres's team will receive an additional USD 1.2 million in funding from NASA.
MSU graduate and faculty member win regional Emmy for audio
MSU professor Jeremiah Slovarp and MSU graduate Luke Scheeler won Emmys at the 56th annual regional awards ceremony, presented by the Northwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. They won in the audio category for their work on the Montana PBS-produced series 11th and Grant with Eric Funk which explores Montana artists’ personal stories and how this has impacted their music.
MSU’s newest dining hall and Culinary Services team take home awards from national competition
The National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS) awarded Montana State University five major accolades. MSU’s Rendezvous Dining Pavilion won both the grand prize and the gold award for residential dining facilities in the large school category. MSU Culinary Services also won silver awards for special events and retail sales, along with the bronze award for best local foods recipe. Miller Dining Commons won the same NACUFS grand prize four years ago. For this recognition, MSU had stiff competition from a variety of notable universities from around the country including Duke, Harvard, Colorado State, and Florida State.
