Montclair State University was founded as the New Jersey State Normal School at Montclair in 1908. It is proud to be a leading institution of higher education in New Jersey. It delivers the instructional and research resources of a large public university in a supportive, sophisticated and diverse academic environment. The University’s six colleges and schools serve over 21,000 undergraduate and graduate students in more than 300 doctoral, master's, and baccalaureate level programs. It offers a comprehensive range of baccalaureate, master's, and certificate programs and a focused portfolio of doctoral programs that are closely aligned with the University's academic strengths and the needs of the state.
In university there are 60 concentrations, 61 minors, plus dozens of certificate programs and teacher certification programs at undergraduate level where as at graduate level it serves more than 130 degree programs and 60 certificates, teacher certifications, administrative and educational services certifications. The students connect with world class professors, a diverse and talented student body, hundreds of majors, and an array of sports and activities that all contribute to a culturally rich and vibrant campus life.
Montclair State University is Located in New Jersey communities of Montclair, Little Falls and Clifton, 252 acre suburban campus just 14 miles from New York City.
