The University of Nevada, Reno was founded in 1874 as the State University of Nevada in Elko, Nev., about 300 miles northeast of its present-day campus in Reno. It’s mission is to prepare students to live and work in an increasingly interconnected world. At the University, students can have both quality and affordability. Unlike many public research universities, it offers its students the chance to get up close and personal with highly credentialed faculty, researchers and professionals.
With over 145 degree programs, the university provides a starting point to students career goals. From expertise in earth sciences to journalism, it’s degrees open the door to unexpected opportunities. While each college has its own personality and area of expertise, they frequently work together to offer interdisciplinary degree programs and undertake complex research and all encourage a welcoming, inclusive, diverse learning environment. University of Nevada, Reno faculty are well respected in their fields and often bring home career achievement awards.
The campus is beautiful, complete with towering green trees and brick buildings. There are coffee shops, sports, restaurants and a multitude of great study spots.
