University of Texas - Dallas

In the 1960s, Eugene McDermott, Erik Jonsson and Cecil Green saw promising young Texans leaving the state to pursue education while their company, Texas Instruments, recruited out-of-state talent to work at their Dallas-based headquarters. Hoping to create better higher-education opportunities in North Texas, the trio established the Graduate Research Center of the Southwest, the foundation for what will become The University of Texas at Dallas.

Rooted in an entrepreneurial spirit, UTD has grown into one of the nation?s top public research universities. A high-energy, nimble, innovative university, UT Dallas offers top-ranked science, engineering and business programs and has gained prominence for a breadth of educational paths from audiology to arts and technology. Their faculty includes six members of the National Academies and more than 550 tenured and tenure-track professors. Its eight schools offer more than 140 undergraduate and graduate programs, plus professional certificates and fast-track programs.

The University of Texas at Dallas is a Carnegie R1 classification (Doctoral Universities - Very high research activity) university nestled just a few miles north of downtown Dallas and minutes away from global corporate headquarters and a renowned arts district.
