Bath Spa University Bursaries

Students must meet all eligibility criteria during each year of application in order to receive an award.

If eligible, part-time students will receive a bursary award that is proportional to their intensity of study.

The criteria is all of the following:

• You must be a first time undergraduate degree student who started your first year (or Foundation Year where your course fee is £9,535) of study from September 2025 onwards.
• You must not hold a degree or higher qualification.
• You must have applied for Student Finance and have been income assessed.
• Your household income must be assessed and evidenced by Student Finance as below £27,500.
• You must be domiciled in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland.
• You must meet sufficient attendance or engagement with your course to be considered for the award, and you must have active attendance prior to the scheduled payment date.

You will not be eligible for the award if:

• You are a student from the EU or an international student
• You have any formal sponsorship agreement with anyone other than Student Finance
• You do not have a full tuition fee loan or maintenance loan at the point of your bursary application, unless you have paid your tuition fees already.
• You're transferring course, transferring institution or restarting a course.
• You are on a Professional Placement (sandwich) Year.
• Your tuition fee is less than the maximum fee of £9,535.
