Recipients of these awards will be chosen by a selection committee of jurors or adjudicators at the Fall Music Festival Competition.

In order to be considered, a student must:
- Be enrolled in the Alberta College Conservatory of Music, MacEwan University.
- Be registered in the Fall Music Festival Competition.
- Exhibit a high degree of musical excellence and/or musical promise as adjudicated at the Fall Music Festival Competition (usually held in November).
- Age category, musical discipline or style of music may be used as criteria.
