In making the recommendation/s, the selection committee gives equal consideration to: a. Academic merit and b. The applicant's projected studio work for the year in which the scholarship is to be held and their reasons for doing it. In the event of two or more applicants being of equal or similar academic merit, preference will be given to a student whose family is located in the West Coast region of the South Island of New Zealand.
If, in any year, there is no candidate of sufficient merit, no scholarship is offered.
The purpose of this scholarship is to reward the academic achievement of full-time students about to enter the final year of a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in the School of Fine Arts at the University of Canterbury.
