University of Bradford Alumni – Keeping the connection strong with their ‘Braduates'
University of Bradford has always been known for their strong keenness in keeping in touch and connecting with their past graduates. ‘Bradford Connect’ alumni portal hosts university updates and brings together a network of over 130,000 graduates from over 175 countries worldwide.
“Learning is a lifelong process and Bradford offered beyond just academic education but also a culture to continuously strive for betterment. The alumni portal and catch-up session like today, are great platforms to nurture existing and new network. It gives me pride being a Bradford alumnus.”
- Mr Desmond Ng, IDP Singapore Sales & Operations/Business Development Manager, ‘Braduate’, class of 2008.
The student and campus experience is indeed captivating. Mr. Philip Kong Ming, originally from Malaysia and now living in Singapore, is one of the many who studied on campus with Bradford; not only does he now have a total of four degrees, including an MBA from Bradford, he also met his wife while studying in Bradford too!
Ms Iona Chew and Ms Rachel Chin (IDP Singapore Education Counsellors) also cited increased number of Bradford students returning or continuing on for their postgraduate degrees upon completion of their first degree.
“University of Bradford School of Management is part of an elite group of business schools worldwide with the esteemed triple-crown accreditations from AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS. This reputation naturally sets a high demand for the MBA courses. Furthermore, Bachelor degree with honours graduates can also complete it within a year on-campus.”
About University of Bradford
The University of Bradford is located in West Yorkshire, in the north of England. With 50 years of academic excellence behind them as a University, they have focused and continued to grow their international reputation and course provision. Formed from a technical college back in 1966, the university itself has always been pioneers in developing new course subjects, reflecting and anticipating the needs of employers, our students, and of society as a whole.
University of Bradford was the first university outside London to offer part-time degree courses, and their courses are designed in response to the changing business, social, scientific and environmental landscape.
From the first modern Business School, which has an international reputation, to the first Peace Studies degree, they continue to offer relevant, practical and useful learning for all their students.
Today their associations with employers have expanded across the globe. The university’s collaborations range from associations with local employers through their employer engagement initiatives, to overseas partnerships including those in Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, Pakistan and India.
Services for International Students
18 per cent of the University of Bradford’s students are from outside of UK, from over 100 different countries. Throughout most of September, the International Office runs an orientation programme until the beginning of term, supported by current students, as well as an International Student Information Point for more personalised advice in the first few days. The Office also has an airport pickup service and each department organises induction sessions for their subjects.
Location
The main campus itself in UK is within walking distance of the city centre. The library, computing and sports facilities are open for extended hours during evenings and weekends and, together with centralised student support activities, provide all the social, recreational, study and welfare facilities necessary for a rich learning and social lifestyle for both students and staff on one campus.
The cities of Leeds, York, Manchester and Sheffield are less than an hour away by car, supported by an excellent public transport system. The countryside is within walking distance from the city centre.
