East Carolina University was chartered in 1907 as a state-supported teacher training school. They are currently the third largest campus in the University of North Caroline system. In the Fall 2013 semester, approximately 27,000 students were enrolled, including about 4,500 freshman. East Carolina University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees.
