NJIT has witnessed a lot of exciting developments recently. The Institute continues to invest in the renewal of its existing facilities in addition to adding new spaces, all of which are aimed at providing an exceptional teaching, learning and living environment.
The centrepiece of the Institute’s plans to renovate and revamp the campus is the 200,000-square-foot Wellness and Events Center. The Center boasts a 25-meter swimming pool, a 10,000-square-foot turf space, and a 3,500-seat sports arena.
The new, multi-disciplined Life Sciences and Engineering Center provides 21st-century research facilities and new opportunities for collaboration and learning. The new structure features a two-story atrium and presentation space for informal learning, gathering and teaching. There is also a new exterior plaza and a lounge area, with cosy nooks for students to study in and relax.
Along with its partners from government and industry, NJIT also celebrated the opening of Makerspace, a training-focused, rapid prototyping facility. The 10,000-sq.-ft. space houses equipment ranging from small 3D printers to large industrial machining centres, such as precision measurement and laser cutting machines. The facility is aimed at bringing manufacturers to the campus and providing them with the tools to build and test prototypes of their most innovative products.
With all these developments, in addition to significant and continuing improvements in the pipeline for labs and other facilities, NJIT seems set to embrace the challenges of living and working in the modern world.
