The University of Buckingham is a vibrant centre of learning where new developments are almost a constant.
- Recently, a new GBP8.5m state-of-the-art Academic Centre was officially opened, cementing a partnership between the University of Buckingham and Milton Keynes University Hospital, which will provide resources for medical education and training for students, doctors, nurses and health professionals.
The pioneering building has state-of-the-art facilities that include a simulated operating theatre and a video link showing live procedures taking place in the hospital’s operating theatres, working replicas of clinical wards and a 200-seat lecture area with capacity to stream lectures throughout the building.
The Medical School Academic Centre is a purpose-built academic centre within the hospital grounds where students will work with real patients from day one of their course - an unusual practice for medical school courses. Students can practice advanced procedures on life-like medical mannequins, which will allow them to see real human responses without risk to human wellbeing.
- German entrepreneur, businesswoman, philanthropist and Buckingham alumna, Susanne Klatten has donated GBP1.8m to fund an Innovation and Enterprise Centre at the University of Buckingham. The fund is expected to enable the University’s enterprise and entrepreneurship department to grow significantly and help with setting up internships, scholarships and PhD courses. There are also plans to use it to incorporate entrepreneurship modules into other Buckingham courses.
