Victoria University (VU) is a public government-funded university ranked in the top 2 percent of universities worldwide. VU is also ranked 63rd in the world in the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings 2022.

VU is a welcoming and inclusive university in Australia's highest-ranked student city, Melbourne. Australia is also ranked the safest country in the world for women, according to the 2019 Global Wealth Migration Review.

VU's facilities include contemporary learning spaces, simulation labs, robotics, high-performance testing, industry-supported facilities such as the Cisco cybersecurity centre and the SAP Next Gen Lab, and the latest technology for vocational skills development. The new VU City Campus houses the state-of-the-art, 5-star green-rated, 32-level VU City Tower in Melbourne's Central Business District.

With the VU Block Model, an Australian first, students focus on one or two subjects at a time, in small classes for four or eight weeks, depending on the course. Each four-week or eight-week ‘block' includes all required assessments and results.

With a high level of academic support, the VU Block Model helps students to adjust to university study in Australia. International students perform particularly well, with a pass rate of 94.4 percent and 57.8 percent of results being a distinction or above.

VU offers students a range of internationally recognised, industry-focused qualifications from vocational education to research. They can choose from qualifications in arts, business, management, education, engineering, health, biomedicine, IT, nursing, hospitality, tourism, law, criminology, sport and exercise science.

VU courses are designed with industry, and many are accredited by industry organisations improving employment outcomes for our graduates.

VU graduates are ranked 1 in Australia for employability skills. With more than 4000 industry partners VU ensures that courses are relevant to industry needs and that graduates are career ready.

Block Model

Block Model

VU's multi-award-winning Block Model is now being delivered across all undergraduate and postgraduate coursework qualifications. With smaller, collaborative classes, students will focus on one or two units at a time instead of juggling four units at once. The university's timetabling also allows for greater flexibility and better work/life/study balance.

By studying in the VU Block Model, students have a better chance of achieving academic success. The current Higher Education pass rate is 94,4 per cent, with 57,8 per cent of those results a distinction or above.

Block model benefits

Connection

With more focused timetables and collaborative classes with one group at a time, the Block Model gives students more time to connect with their peers, lecturers and industry partners, helping them to build strong professional networks.

Flexibility

The postgraduate Block Model courses give students the freedom to achieve a better work/life/study balance with more start dates, part- and full-time study, and remote delivery and on-campus options.

Less stress, more focus

Block Model is designed to allow students to be more focused in both the four-week and eight-week modes, studying one or two units at a time instead of juggling the traditional four units at once.

VU has received numerous accolades for its Australian-exclusive pedagogy and First-Year College, which has been designed specifically for first-year students to make the transition to tertiary education easier. Awards include:

2021 Higher Education - Teaching and Learning Excellence award by Australian Financial Review

2020 Australian Award for University Teaching by Universities Australia
