THE Ranking of Australian universities

The Times Education Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings is an annual publication of university rankings by the Times Higher Education magazine. It is one of the three most popular rankings in the world along with the QS World University Ranking and Academic Ranking of World Universities. THE Rankings have evaluated 1,799 universities from 104 countries and territories this year.

The influencers under the THE ranking include teaching (30%), research (30%), citation (30%), industry income (2.5%), and international outlook (7.5%).

Australia’s overall position in the world rankings has improved vs last year’s rankings as eight universities have made it to the top 100 in the world. More Australian institutions have moved up in their rankings. Monash University has become Australia’s second-best university and ranked 44 overall (up from 57). The University of Melbourne has retained its top spot in Australia but ranked 34 (overall) down from 33. Also, the University of Adelaide is back in the top 100 for the first time since 2011*.

The next THE World University Ranking is expected to come out in September 2023.
