Accounting, Business Administration

Humber’s Business Administration – Accounting advanced diploma program covers a number of areas including accounting theory, procedures and best practices. They will gain hands-on experience in industry-standard software such as CaseWare, Idea, Profile (personal and corporate tax), Access, Excel, SAGE 50 Accounting (formerly known as Simply Accounting) and Accpac Plus in our Accounting Center.

Sustainable Energy and Building Tech

With the increasing challenge posed by population growth and the associated carbon footprint, new models of resource management and sustainability are needed. The advanced diploma program in Sustainability Energy and Building Technology addresses these issues and equips students with the requisite skills to do so.

English for Academic Purposes (EAP)

Humber College’s EAP certificate program is an intensive, full-time academic pathway program. The program integrates reading, writing, listening and speaking skills with an academic focus. Students will also benefit from study skills and individual tutoring support.

Graphic Design

This advanced diploma program develops creative and strategic thinkers who design and execute for interactive media such as web and screen, user interaction, motion design, as well as traditional print products.

Hospitality and Tourism Management, Bachelor of Commerce

The college’s Bachelor of Commerce – Hospitality and Tourism Management degree program has been designed to meet the demands of employers for the strategic, technological and managerial skills considered necessary in this exciting and dynamic industry.

Insurance Management

Humber’s Insurance Management – Property and Casualty graduate certificate program prepares you for a variety of entry level management career paths in the large and growing property and casualty insurance industry. Learn the fundamentals of the industry and its three main functional areas – underwriting, loss adjusting and agency/brokerage.

Humber recognizes students’ academic achievements and has implemented a number of scholarships to assist them with the costs of their post-secondary education.

Humber offers several different types of scholarships, including:

Entrance Scholarship

The International Entrance Scholarship program at Humber is currently under review. More information will be posted on the university website in the near future.

Degree Scholarships

Humber awards degree scholarships automatically to graduating high school students based on academic achievement. Some of the scholarships are renewable each year if students maintain an average of 80 per cent or more.

The following are the scholarships available to students based on their scores:

• More than 95% - CAD 4,000 renewable
• 90 - 94.9% - CAD 3,500 renewable
• 85 - 89.9% - CAD 3,000 renewable
• 80 - 84.9% - CAD 2,000 renewable
• 75 - 79.9% - CAD 1,500 one time

Students who wish to pursue their studies at Humber College, must complete the following steps:

Step 1: Pick a program and confirm availability

Admission to Humber can be competitive, and as a result, program availability is subject to change throughout the year. Applicants should note the status of the program availability prior to submitting their application.

Step 2: Proof of academic standing

The college requires scanned copies of original certified secondary school graduation transcripts for diploma and degree programs, and any college or university transcripts for postgraduate programs and degree programs. All documents must be accompanied by a notarized, official translation into English (where applicable).

English Language Proficiency Requirements (e.g. IELTS, TOEFL, CAEL, MELAB) vary from program to program.

Step 3: Additional program requirements

Additional requirements may include a portfolio, audition, letter of intent, references, etc., depending on the programs.

Step 4: Review tuition/fee schedule

Full tuition must be paid by the deadline indicated on the offer letter.

Step 5: Allow for appropriate processing times

The college prioritizes applications that include all documents required to make an admission decision.

Students at Humber College will have the opportunity to complete program work placements in Canada or abroad. In today’s competitive job market, having global work experience propels students for their prospective careers.

Interning abroad is about much more than work experience. Students who complete the work experience will be challenged to adapt both personally and professionally and experience an enormous payoff.

By leaving the comforts of their homes, students will be able to immerse themselves in an entirely new culture, push the boundaries of what they are capable of, and gain an invaluable global perspective. Students will have the opportunity to enhance many skills, including self-confidence, decision-making, building new networks, and communicating in different environments.

The security team

The security team is available 24 hours a day and employs a wide array of security professionals, including:

Humber Guardian App

The Department of Public Safety has released the Humber Guardian app for smartphones. The Guardian is designed for Humber students, staff and faculty and provides quick access to campus safety and security resources, emergency contact information, safety services and a safety toolbox.

• A personal emergency alarm
• Quick-access flashlight
• Ability to email questions, comments and photos to Public Safety

International Student Advisors

Humber College has dedicated international student advisors to help international students adjust to life at the college. They can assist with academic support, orientation, health insurance, accommodation, work permit applications and financial management.

Humber Connect

Through the program new students are connected with staff and upper-year students, who assist with mentoring and integration into the campus community.

International Student Ambassadors

Student ambassadors facilitate international students and orientate them with all the aspects of student life at Humber. International students can apply to become ambassadors after studying for one semester.

IGNITE is a student run organization that provides student services, hosts events and manages clubs. Students have many options to choose from and get involved with, learning new skills and gaining invaluable experience. The options include:

Students Events and Trips

International students can take advantage of the social events and trips organized by Humber Global. It offers a great opportunity for students to get to know one another and explore both Toronto and Canada. Previous trips have included visits to Toronto’s St Lawrence Market, Montreal and Niagara Falls.
