What's new

New Associate of Arts degree

The college has recently launched its new program – the Associate of Arts degree. This is a dynamic way for students to gain credits towards a university degree and at the same time explore a variety of different disciplines.

The program is worth 60 credits and takes two years to complete. It prepares students for study at a British Columbia University, where they can gain a full faculty of arts bachelor's degree.

There are several study options in the Associate of Arts Degree:

  • English – including poetry, fiction and theatre
  • Philosophy – including critical thinking and ethics
  • Psychology – including personality theories and sociology
  • Science – including biology, chemistry and geology
  • Art – including architecture and drama in media
  • Math – including geometry, algebra and statistics
  • History – including political science and history of photography
  • Business – including communications, law and economics

The program gives students strong communication, research and critical thinking skills that are often looked for by employers.

Department structure

Department structure

There are eight main areas of study, each offering a selection of degree, diploma or certificate programs. Qualifications are internationally recognized.

Game Design and VFX School

This innovative school teaches through a multi-disciplinary approach, where students learn how to become designers, programmers, animators, artists, and modelers.

Graphic Design School

Students are shown how to think of new ways to solve problems in graphic design and graduate equipped with in-demand skills. They will study areas like color, image manipulation, product packaging, art direction and layout design.

Interior Design School

From residential to commercial, students learn about every aspect of environmental design such as light, space, texture and color. They finish their studies with a deep understanding of the industry's rigorous requirements.

E-Learning School

Those who wish to learn online have access to high-quality and flexible diploma programs, inspired by the on-campus curriculum.

Associate of Arts

Students can gain credits towards a university degree while exploring a variety of study areas. It includes disciplines such as creative writing, art history, critical thinking, environmental science and business law.

Culinary School

Those after a career in the culinary arts enjoy accredited programs that last one or two years. Teaching is hands-on and takes place in industry-standard facilities. Graduates go into rewarding careers in restaurants, bakeries and more.

Fashion School

The college's fashion programs are known worldwide for their innovation, where students get to showcase their creations at events, photoshoots, and fashion shows. They are shown how to develop real-world skills that they'll use every day in their careers.

Audio and Film School

Students who want a career in music or film can gain the expertise for a career within these exciting industries. Programs involve the latest techniques, equipment, and faculty are film and audio industry professionals.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

Academic criteria

New students are evaluated on their educational backgrounds. To be admitted, students must complete a number of tasks, including:

  • Attend an interview, either in person or on the phone
  • Show evidence of completed secondary school or equivalent, or qualify as a mature student
  • Submit an application form and enrollment agreement
  • Pay an application and assessment fee
  • Submit a 250-word essay if applying to a degree program (except Bachelor of Fashion Design)
  • Bachelor of Fashion Design degree requires a 500-word essay and portfolio submission

English language criteria

Instruction is in English, so non-native speakers need good English language proficiency before enrolling in a program. A range of language tests are accepted, such as those with the following minimum scores:

  • IELTS Academic – 5.5 for certificate and diploma, 6.5 for a bachelor's
  • PTE Academic – 48 for certificate and diploma, 58 for a bachelor's
  • TOEFL IBT – 75 for certificate and diploma, 80 for a bachelor's
  • TOEFL PBT – 530 for certificate and diploma, 550 for a bachelor's

Scholarship & funding

Scholarship & funding

LaSalle College Vancouver offers several scholarships which international students benefit from. These awards are to recognize high-achieving learners by supporting them with tuition fee discounts.

Talent scholarship

A tuition fee discount of up to 20 per cent is available annually for new full-time students on diploma or degree programs. Students from the following areas are eligible:

  • Game design and VFX
  • Graphic design
  • Interior design
  • Culinary
  • Fashion
  • Audio and film
  • Associate of Arts

Travel bursary

Up to CAD 1,000 is available to cover travel expenses for eligible students who live over 200 km from the campus.

Academic excellence award

New, high-achieving students who can demonstrate excellence in previous high school or post-secondary education may receive a financial reward to support their study costs.
