With over 2,400 courses, 73 bachelors, 43 masters, 22 doctoral and two education specialist programs, the university has the program for you. Professors here are leaders, thinkers, and doers. In fact, 29 of their faculty have received The Outstanding Faculty Award from the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV), placing ODU in the top tier of award-winning institutions state-wide. Through their mentorship and classroom experience student will be prepared for life after graduation. Students benefit annually from more than 5,600 practical experiences. ODU has the second largest percentage of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and health (STEM-H) graduates in Virginia.
Old Dominion University hosts more than 300 student organizations, providing students an opportunity to expand their growth and learning through leadership, service, and socializing with a diverse group of peers. Student Organizations register each year with the university and are entirely student-led, may apply for funding from the Student Government Association to support annual costs, and are advised by an ODU Faculty/Staff member. The Office of Leadership and Student Involvement provides on-going support to encourage the success of these organizations, their members, and their leaders.
The University Libraries provide online research databases, e-books, thousands of online journals and more than 3 million items in its physical collections. Also, living a healthy lifestyle is an integral part of total success and ODU offers a variety of services and programs designed to help students maintain optimum health. Beside this, student centric department, Student Outreach and Support, provides support to students who experience administrative, academic or personal roadblocks. It helps students achieve their personal and academic goals.
