Central Washington University is an institution of higher education that is driven by planning, prioritization, assessment and continuous improvement. CWU prepares students to succeed in a global economy through strong partnerships with 30 colleges and universities around the world.
As a public comprehensive university, CWU strives to create an engaging learning environment and therefore places its highest priority on teaching, learning, and student success. The faculty is comprised of scholar-teachers working in the interests of their students, their disciplines, and the region. CWU encourages individualized programs of student success and promotes undergraduate and graduate student-faculty partnerships that are actively engaged in discovery, creative expression, and engaged learning.
The University is known for its excellent academics and personal attention, the Recreation Center is no exception. The facility provides a wide variety of premier programs and equipment to promote active and healthy bodies. The Recreation Center offers two floors of amazing health and fitness options. The 80,000 sq. ft. exercise mecca has a 50-foot climbing wall with two arches for bouldering, a strength training area, fitness and cardio equipment areas, an elevated 1/8-mile jogging track, a four-court gymnasium, two group exercise rooms, locker rooms with saunas and a sports medicine room.
Beside this, there are more than 150 student organizations or clubs at Central through which students are able to find their niches, get involve, and meet new friends in the process. Clubs are a great way for students to branch out into areas previously uncharted, or altogether unexplored.
Central Washington University's Ellensburg residential campus encompasses 380 acres. There are also six university centers (Des Moines, Lynnwood, Pierce County, Moses Lake, Wenatchee, and Yakima) and two instructional sites (Joint Base Lewis-McChord and Sammamish).
