The university has hundreds of courses across five campuses, with graduates from the institution finding employment significantly faster than any other Australian university. By studying in a regional area, students could be eligible for extended post-study work rights.

Charles Sturt University offers flexible learning options that fit in with students' lives, not rule it. Students can study online from wherever they are in the world, on-campus in Australia, or at one of many partner institutions. In addition, the university have study abroad and exchange programs available. Whichever option students choose to study with, the university is there to make sure that they are supported every step of the way.

Charles Sturt University's NSW campuses are located in some of Australia's fastest growing regional cities: Albury-Wodonga, Bathurst, Canberra, Orange, Port Macquarie and Wagga Wagga. The health and wellbeing of the entire university community is Charles Sturt University's utmost priority. It's working with the government and following all updates to ensure it responds best to the situation. On-campus classes are being moved online to help reduce the potential spreading of the virus in campus locations.

Courses are developed in line with industry requirements. Many are accredited by government and industry bodies which work closely with the university to ensure graduates are industry-ready. There are over 60 on-campus and 300 online courses to choose from.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

To gain a place at Charles Sturt University, international students need to meet both the academic and English language requirements. Those who wish to study on campus must also meet the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirements, set out by the Australian government.

Academic requirements

Criteria depend on the country students come from. A small number of courses have specific admission requirements, such as interviews and supplementary forms.

Prospective undergraduate international students who completed their secondary education outside of Australia will need a competitive grade in an exam equivalent to Australian Year 12. Those who completed their secondary education in Australia will require:

  • Higher School Certificate with an ATAR appropriate to their course
  • Tertiary Preparation Certificate with satisfactory completion
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma.

Postgraduate students will need a recognised bachelor's degree that's equivalent to an Australian qualification.

English language requirements

Charles Sturt University courses require evidence of sufficient study in English or an English language test taken within the last two years. This could be one of the following, or equivalent:

  • Academic IELTS, with a minimum score of 6 and no band below 5.5
  • TOEFL iBT, with a minimum score of 80 and a writing score of 25
  • PTE Academic, with a minimum score of 54 and no skill below 46

Facilities

Facilities

Numerous facilities can be found across campus to support learning and living, such as 24/7 learning commons, cafes, dental clinics, computer labs, dining halls, gyms, barbecue areas and sports areas.

Library

Available to access on campus or online, the library has countless educational resources and support services. Students can utilise study areas, workstations, catalogues, eJournals, eBooks, orientation workshops and digital lending systems.

Accommodation

International students can enjoy safe, comfortable and secure student housing. First-year students have guaranteed rooms where the cost includes all bills and furnishings. There are different options available, such as classic halls and villages. There are facilities for disabled students, and international students can opt to stay in their accommodation throughout the entire year if they wish. Catering packages are available, and all amenities are close by.

Social

Charles Sturt University hosts many entertainment events including formal balls, movie nights, music gigs and online hangouts. There's plenty of opportunity to meet others and indulge in interests student clubs available to join cover all topics from music to advocacy to volunteering.
