Overview
For over 60 years, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) has provided a world-class, affordable education. More than 26,000 students attend this ‘Research 1’ institution. UWM is recognized by the Carnegie Classification in the top 131 of U.S. research universities.
Over 1,200 international students from 90 countries call UWM home. They may choose from 195 academic programs, across a variety of subject areas. A few of UWM’s popular courses include:

Teaching is delivered by faculty across 12 schools and colleges. Students work alongside faculty mentors to advance important and innovative research in over 100 centers, labs, and institutes. Faculty members teach in collaborative classes with an 18:1 student-to-teacher ratio. They are dedicated to developing their students to take up rewarding careers.
Students can expect to learn beyond the classroom and many programs incorporate unique and exciting academic internship opportunities. As well, they benefit from the university’s global research and industry partnerships. Seven Fortune 500 companies’ international headquarters are located within driving distance of the university, as are many leading manufacturers’ facilities.
UWM’s main campus is located in a tree-filled and student-friendly residential neighbourhood in Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s largest city, which is approximately 90 minutes north of Chicago. The local area also has a low cost of living. Students can enjoy a short walk to a beach along one of North America’s five Great Lakes, Lake Michigan.
