The university has made considerable investments in its campus in the past few years, including the construction of cutting-edge engineering facilities, the Rosalind Franklin science building, the Lord Swraj Paul Building (business school), the Cyber Centre, the Springfield architecture and built environment super-campus, and the Marches Centre for Excellence in Healthcare.

From its central UK location, it provides opportunities to students from around the world. World-leading academics help students to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to thrive in the global economy.

Each year the university welcomes students from over 130 nations. The award-winning student support services ensure that the university continues to be a helpful and welcoming global institution. It has been awarded the highest accolade by the Quality Assurance Agency, and was given four stars overall in 2019 in the QS Stars™ scheme, with the highest five stars for teaching, employability, internationalisation, and inclusiveness. Graduate Outcomes found that over 90% of its UK graduates from the most recent cohort were employed, in education, or running their own business, beating the national average.
