CPIT provides Christchurch with an alternative education experience offering study with a strong practical focus. Foundation studies are offered through to Post Graduate qualifications. The institution has a history of over 100 years and in this time has earned an outstanding reputation. Polyculture week is an international celebration festival held every year at CPIT. The festival recognises the 60 different nationalities represented at CPIT. CPIT hosts New Zealand’s only school for radio journalism and communication, the School of Broadcasting. Because of its unique character it has only limited capacity for international students.
CPIT places a strong emphasis on practical skills Because of the current rebuilt of Christchurch, the following programmes are particularly exciting at CPIT: Architecture, Engineering and Applied Management.. These qualifications are highly regarded due to CPIT students receiving a large amount of practical experience as well as theory prior to completing their studies. CPIT offers a range of fine arts programmes for students including, fashion, music and others. These arts schools are provided a space each year for students to display their creative work to other CPIT students and the public. The fashion school hosts two fashion shows each year that are highly regarded.
