It was a great experience to be involved in TKIS community. This school is an international school, I have met lots of people from different countries, for example, China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Germany etc. and even the local Australian student. All the friends and teachers are very nice and very friendly. I can go through all my challenging time because I have received good advice and support from these people around me. Furthermore, as the student population in TKIS is not big, it allows me to get to know each other in school easily, especially with the boarders (as we are living in the boarding house together).
Living in the Boarding house was a great experience. This is such an eye-opening experience, as I have to interact with people from different countries. This gives me an opportunity to understand different cultures, traditions and languages from my boarding mates. I have also developed the virtues, such as being tolerant, knowing how to adapt yourself and get along with other people, helping, caring and sharing with others. It is like a “mini world”.
The IB teaches us how to be creative or be initiative, also be encouraged to think independently and drive our own learning. We have had a lot of practical works, also initiated our own experiment in sciences or essays for the languages, and completed these assessments by ourselves. The skills of writing an academic essay and how to reference the research resource would be very important once we entered the university. Thus, I believe that I will be benefited from all the trainings we received offered by the IB Diploma Program.
