It is Scotland's first university and the third oldest in the English speaking world. Teaching began in the community of university in 1410. Students belong to one of the University's four Faculties, which are the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Divinity, the Faculty of Medicine, and the Faculty of Science. It offers opportunities for students to spend a semester or year abroad, and for students from other institutions around the world to study at St Andrews.
