14 Morgantown colleges and schools offer more than 350 majors in agriculture, natural resources and design, arts and sciences, business and economics, creative arts, dentistry, education and human services, engineering and mineral resources, law, media, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, physical activity and sport sciences, public health. Hundreds of distance education and online classes are available.

The WVU Libraries encompass seven libraries state-wide. Facilities in Morgantown include the Downtown Campus Library, Evansdale Library, Health Sciences Library, Law Library, and the West Virginia and Regional History Center. Onsite collections include more than 2.4 million books, over 600,000 e-books and 90,000 e-journals.

The university offers more than 450 Student Organizations within the Office of Student Engagement and Leadership. It was also rated the ninth best college town in America by Business Insider and is within easy traveling distance of Washington to the east, Pittsburgh to the north, and Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio, to the northwest.
