
How much does it cost?
IELTS test fees vary from country to country. Your IDP Education student adviser will advise the test fee for your country in your local currency, or contact your nearest test centre. In Turkey, the Academic and General Training tests are the same cost.

What is Computed IELTS?
You can have your result 2 to 5 days after the test and also, you can take the test 7 days a week in the morning, noon or evening and will be done through the computer. For the first time in Turkey, Computed IELTS has been started by IDP IELTS.
You will complete listening, reading and the writing parts of the test on by using computer. Speaking part of the test will be continue to held on face to face but it could be also held as VCS (Video Call Speaking). What if I need to postpone or cancel my IELTS test?
IELTS test postponement requests must be carried out five weeks before the test date via email or in person. The exam postponement or refund request is limited to one time and the five-week rule is calculated over the period between the day you request a postponement and your registered test date.
Candidates who request cancellation or postponement less than five weeks before the IELTS exam, or who do not attend the exam they have registered for, must submit the appropriate document, such as a medical report, death notice, or police report from a qualified hospital, to change the exam date or cancel their exam, and/or the proof must be submitted to ielts.ankara@idp.com or ielts.istanbul@idp.com within 5 days from the exam date. Due to the registration process, your exam fee will be refunded with a 25% deduction, or your exam date will be postponed to a future date that you specify without any additional fee. Examination postponement or refund request is limited to one time. You can postpone your exam for a maximum of 1 month. Documents submitted outside the specified period cannot be accepted, transfers or returns cannot be made.
Candidates who request postponement less than five weeks before the IELTS exam without submitting any compelling reason can postpone your exam for a maximum of 3 months by paying 500 TL. Examination postponement request is limited to one time. In order for the application to be processed, the request must be notified to ielts.ankara@idp.com or ielts.istanbul@idp.com within 5 days from the exam date at the latest.
When you request a postponement or cancellation at least five weeks before your test, you do not need to submit any documents. Just send an e-mail to ielts.ankara@idp.com or ielts.istanbul@idp.com. You can get the full exam fee back or postpone your exam to a later date for one time.
What if I need to postpone my UKVI IELTS test?
IELTS UKVI test postponement requests must be submitted no later than 14 days before the test date. If there is less than 14 days left before your exam, it cannot be postponed. You can postpone your exam for a maximum of 3 months. Exam postponement request is limited to one time. To request a postponement, simply send your request to ielts.ankara@idp.com or ielts.istanbul@idp.com.
In case of non-attendance on the day of the exam without any excuse, the exam will be canceled, no postponement or refund will be made.
Candidates who have registered and do not participate in the IELTS UKVI exam must submit the appropriate document and/or proof, such as a medical report, death notice or police report from a qualified hospital, within 5 days from the exam date, in order to change the exam date or cancel the exam, It should be sent to the ielts.ankara@idp.com or ielts.istanbul@idp.com. IELTS UKVI refund policies vary depending on the date you cancel your registration. This is calculated from the date you emailed or contacted the testing center in person to request a postponement or cancellation.

HOWEVER, accordance with IELTS policy, you can get a full refund or postpone your exam date to any date within 3 months if you submit your reasons within 5 days from your exam date. Documents submitted outside the specified period cannot be accepted, transfers or refunds cannot be made.
Do I take all parts of the test on the same day? Which part do I take first?
The Listening, Reading and Writing components of the test are always completed immediately after each other and with no break. You will take the Speaking test -especially for IELTS on paper IELTS tests- either one day before, same day or one day after on the test date, depending on the test centre. While you register IELTS online, you can choose available Speaking Test dates and hours.
What are the test rules?
Test rules and guidelines can be found on the Notice to Candidates provided in the IELTS Application Form. You are also advised to read the Information for Candidates booklet carefully so that you understand the test format and know what to expect on test day. What can I take into the examination room?
A cloaking room is available where you can leave your personal belongings on test day, but it is strongly recommended not to bring valuable items with you. You must leave everything outside the test area except the valid passport or ID you used while registering.
Mobile phones, smartwatches, and pagers should be turned off and left with other personal belongings in the secure area designated by invigilators.
You can bring an HB pencil or HB mechanical pencil, eraser, sharpener. You can also bring water and disinfectant – all labels must be removed and bottles must be see-through. If you wish, the test centers will also provide water, wipes, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, disinfectants, and cologne.
Items that are NOT ALLOWED in the test room:

- all electronic devices
- keys
- wallet
- money
- food
- drink
- bag
- clock/smartwatch
- all other items

What is the Speaking test?
The Speaking test is a discussion over 11-14 minutes with a certified and highly qualified IELTS Examiner. The Speaking test is made up of three sections. It is recorded on an audiocassette or a digital recorder. For more information click here.
What do I need for the Speaking test?
You must bring the same passport/national identity card you supplied on your IELTS Application Form and continue to use the same identity documents for each part of the test. Your identity will be checked before you enter the interview room.
What kinds of accents can be heard in the Listening and Speaking tests?
As IELTS is an international test, a variety of English accents are used in both of these tests.
Can I write in capital letters?
Yes, you can use all capital letters in the IELTS Reading and Listening components and also in the Writing component.
How are the tests marked?
IELTS uses a 9-band scoring system to report test scores in a consistent manner. You receive individual band scores for Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking and an Overall Band Score on a band scale from one to nine. For more information click here.
Can I write in pencil?
In the exams, you can use pencils given by IDP before the exam or you can bring an HB pencil or HB mechanical pencil.
Can I make notes on the Listening and Reading question papers?
Yes. The people marking your answers to the Listening and Reading questions will not see your question paper.
Who sets the 'pass mark' for the IELTS test?
There is no pass or fail in IELTS. Scores are graded on the 9-band system. Each educational institution or organization sets its own minimum IELTS scores to meet its individual requirements. To find out more, search the list of organisations accepting IELTS scores.
When will I receive my test results?
Your Test Report Form will be available to you 13 calendar days after your test date. If you take the Computed IELTS, you can receive your Test Report Form within 2-5 days.
How to access my IELTS results online?
If you have taken the IELTS on computer test, you can preview your results online within 2-5 days after your test date.
If you take the IELTS IELTS on paper test, you can preview your IELTS results online 13 calendar days after your test date.
You’ll need your passport/national ID number, personal details (All personal details must be in Latin (English) characters), and your test date to retrieve your results.
How many test report forms (TRFs) am I entitled to?
You will only receive one copy of your Test Report Form.
How can I send my IELTS results to institutions?
We can upload your test report through electronical as many organizations as you want for free. For more information click here.
For the organizations that do not accept electronical result we can sent your printed test report (max. 2 with an additional fee) through international cargos. Each location has different shipping fees. For more information please click here.
The test result forms only be sent to the institutions and organizations. Additional document cannot sent to the students, their parents or friends
I lost my Test Report Form. What should I do?
After the test results are announced the TRF (Test Report Form) document is very valuable document and you can only have one document for each exam. If you lost your document, you can only get a new one for 2 times. For more information click here.
How soon can I re-sit the test?
There is no time limit on sitting the test. However, we strongly recommend you do additional study before taking the test again. Some test centres offer preparatory courses and workshops. Ask your IDP Education student adviser or contact your local test centre for more information, click here.
What if I am not happy with my result?
You can apply for a re-mark, known as an Enquiry on Results, at your test centre within six weeks of the test date. You must pay an enquiry fee, which will be fully refunded if your band score changes. Note that IELTS Examiners and markers follow strict assessment guidelines and are regularly monitored.
