Teaching and learning are the priorities at DePaul. That might seem obvious, but they are the largest private university whose faculty members’ priority is teaching. The university is also the nation’s largest Catholic university and is committed to an educational experience that weaves together mind, place, people and heart. Students come from all 50 states and 114 countries.
DePaul has more than 300 undergraduate majors and graduate programs, so chances are good that students will have what they are looking for. Many of its professor’s work in Chicago as consultants, researchers and entrepreneurs, and incorporate their experiences in the classroom. 92 percent of DePaul undergraduates and 93 percent of graduate students are employed or continuing their education within a year of their graduation. At DePaul, professor’s focuses on students. More than 98 percent of all classes are taught by faculty members and not by teaching assistants. The class size is fever than 40 students.
The university has more than 350 student organizations dedicated to community service, student government, professional development, recreational sports and more. The easiest way to learn about all of DePaul's student organizations is to attend the semi-annual Student Involvement Fair. It's held at the beginning of the Fall and Winter quarters at both the Loop and Lincoln Park campuses.
Some of the world’s most famous museums are just a train ride away, but there’s also one right in the university backyard — and it’s free. The DePaul Art Museum (DPAM) features international and national, contemporary and historical work, including work from Salvador Dali, Francisco De Goya and Andy Warhol. The museum has over 3,000 works in its permanent collection with 4-6 rotational exhibition each year. Numerous programs, screenings, talks and films are held there regularly.
DePaul has one campus in Chicago’s business district and another in Lincoln Park. Chicago itself is an ideal classroom and the university takes full advantage of it. The location provides students with thousands of internship opportunities, more than 118,000 alumni in the metro area and connections that impact students education and career opportunities. Lincoln Park campus is just north of downtown Chicago and feels like a traditional university campus — quad and all. It is home to a sprawling lakefront park and some of the best restaurants in the nation. The neighbourhood is a live music hub, with jazz clubs and leading rock venues. Students will also find some of the best local bookstores, boutiques and grub. The Loop is in the heart of the city, home of Chicago's largest business district and five DePaul colleges and schools.
