Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is a leading public research university and New Jersey's preeminent, comprehensive public institution of higher education. Founded in the 1920s, it began as the South Jersey Law School and the College of South Jersey. The two schools became the Camden campus when it merged with Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.
