University of Southern California
The University of Southern California is one of the world’s leading private research universities. An anchor institution in Los Angeles, a global center for arts, technology and international business, USC’s diverse curricular offerings provide extensive opportunities for interdisciplinary study and collaboration with leading researchers in highly advanced learning environments.
There are more than 100 undergraduate majors that students can choose. USC thrives on interdisciplinary study and promoting breadth with depth. The Progressive Degree program allows students to begin work on a master’s degree while completing requirements for their bachelor’s degree. It’s a great opportunity for them to deepen their education and prepare for future, and to do so in as little as one additional year. USC has more than 400 graduate programs offered by the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences and professional schools.
The university’s distinguished faculty of 4,000 innovative scholars, researchers, teachers and mentors includes five Nobel laureates, and dozens of recipients of prestigious national honors including the MacArthur “Genius” Award, Guggenheim Award, the National Medal of the Arts, the National Humanities Medal, the National Medal of Science, the National Medal of Technology and Innovation, and Pulitzer Prize.
USC has an accredited museum right on its campus, the Fisher Museum of Art. Stroll in and checkout the great collections of 17th, 18th, and 19th century European, British, and American pieces. Make a point of visiting contemporary exhibits of artists from Los Angeles and Latin America. Enjoy the museum, the cafe, and surrounding spaces for study, socializing, and contemplative moments. Entry to the museum is free.
KUSC’s extraordinarily knowledgeable hosts make classical music come alive through their illuminating information on the music, the composers, the context, and the performers. It is the largest public classical radio station in the country, offering classical music and arts programming to radio listeners locally and around the globe through its live stream on the Web.
From student activities and special groups to residential colleges and activism, students will find an endless array of opportunities for involvement and ways to show their commitments. Whatever be student interests, there’s probably a group they can join and help lead from academic, cultural, and political, to recreational, social, and sororities and fraternities. It’s another great way to become part of USC.
Located in the heart of Los Angeles, USC’s University Park campus is part of the city’s Downtown Arts and Education Corridor and is home to the USC Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences and many professional schools.
