Founded in 1842, Duquesne University is a highly regarded private Catholic research university, located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Originally founded by members of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit, the university has since expanded into a diverse and dynamic modern institution, offering a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes of study to its population of around 9,300 students.

Duquesne University is located in The Bluff neighborhood, a safe area of Pittsburgh, which runs alongside the Monongahela river in the center of the city and offers its residents a lively urban environment. The surrounding Pittsburgh neighborhoods contain a world-class selection of restaurants, coffee shops, bars and green spaces.

The campus itself is situated within a 49-acre hilltop location and includes 10 schools of study. Duquesne University maintains associated campuses in Rome, Italy and Dublin, Ireland, and the university's student body includes students from more than 80 countries worldwide. Duquesne University has an expanded network of more than 93,000 alumni, representing many different roles and professional sectors around the world, including the current bishop of Pittsburgh and award-winning documentary filmmaker Werner Herzog.

The university has designed a multi-phase plan for reopening and returning to normalcy, which includes the adoption of a hybrid learning model where courses are delivered using a combination of face-to-face classes and online tuition. The master plan involves a state-of-the-art testing, screening and vaccination program, ensuring continuity of studies and encouraging the success of its students.

Student safety is a massive priority at Duquesne University, particularly in light of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Help is always available, and the university provides an exceptional range of Student Services, to ensure the academic and personal support required to foster the success of its population of around 9,300 students. Services include:

Learning Skills Center - Academic support and general advice is available to ease the transition to living and studying away from home.

Financial Aid - Help is available to coordinate grants and scholarship applications, as well as assistance with budgeting and loan advice.

Health and Wellness - Duquesne University acknowledges the diversity of its student's social, psychological and personal needs. The university offers free and confidential counseling, as well as adjustment guidance for new students.

Medical Center – An on-campus clinic is available during term times, and regular health and safety updates online. Health education is available on-campus as well as emergency care and treatment for minor illnesses.

These services are in place to enhance the university experience and in addition to the Students' Union and campus societies, are available year-round.
