Loma Linda University
Loma Linda University is a Seventh-day Adventist organization with more than 4,400 students located in Southern California. Eight schools comprise the University organization. The university share its campuses with six hospitals where students receive hands-on training. More than 100 programs are offered by the schools of Allied Health Professions, Behavioral Health, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health and Religion. Curricula offered range from certificates of completion and associate in science degrees to doctor of philosophy and professional doctoral degrees. In addition, Loma Linda University also offers several distance education programs. Students from more than 80 countries around the world and virtually every state in the nation are represented in Loma Linda University's student body.
Loma Linda University is committed to whole person student development. The cocurricular aspects of student life on campus are planned to assist students in achieving a healthy balance in every dimension of their lives.
The University recognizes and encourages the need for students to participate in social activities in order to contribute to the development of the whole person. Student activities at LLU are largely the result of collaborative endeavors between University schools, programs, and departments, and between student leaders and their organizations. Events and activities include snow skiing, trips to national parks, retreats, sporting events and tournaments, community service activities, Lunch on the Lawn, the annual Welcome Back Bash, the University Christmas party, and many other kinds of programs and events. Loma Linda University students and dependents typically receive substantial discounts for most events.
Life outside the classroom and laboratories is an important part of education. Student clubs and organizations provide the opportunity to develop and refine a wide range of professional leadership and fellowship skills.
