Manukau Institute of Technology's recent award nominations

Manukau Institute of Technology was recently picked as a finalist by Westpac Auckland Business Awards in two categories, namely Best Customer Service Delivery and Employer of the Year for the South and East regions.

Gus Gilmore, its chief executive said, ''We are delighted to have made the high-quality list of finalists. It's a great acknowledgement of hard work, innovation and challenging established ways of thinking for the benefit of students and staff.''

MIT redesigned its customer service experience completely through its Project Reretahi, which became a key reason for its award entry. Inclusion and diversity were strong themes in the institute's successful entry for the category, Employer of the Year. Entry requirements

Entry requirements

Students need to meet academic and English language entry requirements to be eligible for admission into MIT.

MIT English language requirements

MIT graduate diplomas and degrees need IELTS 6.0 (Academic) as a minimum or equivalent. Some study options need IELTS 6.5 (Academic) or equivalent. Certificates need IELTS 5.5 (Academic) as a minimum or equivalent.

NZ academic qualification equivalents

  • International Baccalaureate 24+ (or)
  • Cambridge International Examination (CIE) 120 points on UCAS tariff

Some courses may have higher requirements and MIT may consider admissions for students on a case-by-case basis for those who have not met the requirements as well.

Post application, MIT will get back to students asking for more information if needed or will let students know if the application is successful. It will send students an offer letter and an acceptance form if the application is successful.

Student Village

MIT's Student Village is modern and an affordable accommodation choice, as well as a friendly community for students to make lifelong friendships. It offers students modern amenities and facilities during their time at MIT.

Residential life at the village will put students at the heart of life in MIT and will help students make the most of their student experience. There are 14 fully furnished houses at the village. MIT's Common Room also houses a chill-out area, available 24/7, where students can play table tennis or pool. A computer hub is also available for MIT residents. Students can also enjoy monthly activities at discounted prices as residents of MIT.

This will be students' first point of contact for enquiries about study options through a team of experienced advisers.

MIT Otara

This is MIT's main campus and is set in 12 hectares of land, with substantial gardens and large green open spaces. This campus is based in the heart of South Auckland, close to public transport options.

Study options at this campus include, engineering, primary industries, consumer services, education and social services.

MIT Manakau

This purpose-built campus is based in the heart of Manukau and covers subject areas including digital technologies, business, nursing, health and counselling. It is home to many specialist spaces, project spaces, and labs.

New Zealand Maritime School - City Campus

Classrooms of this campus overlook the busiest and biggest commercial port in New Zealand and the city's waterfront. The school helps students get hands-on experience before they commence the sea time component of their study.

Established in 1970, Manukau Institute of Technology is a leader in technical and vocational education. It is rated a Category One educational provider by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.
