Director of Client Relations, UK
Bryony heads up the Client Relations Team in the UK and works closely with our clients (Universities, PPPs and ESL). She is home based (in Somerset) but is often in the office in Cardiff as well as out and about around the UK. Bryony is a member of the UK Senior Management Team.
Bryony has worked in the Education sector since 2003 following a move from a successful career in the commercial sector (18 years in marketing and technical development in the personal products markets). She joined IDP Education from the University of Exeter, where she worked in the International Office as Assistant Director, Partnerships, managing the University’s strategic partnerships worldwide and heading up the Study Abroad programme. Prior to Exeter, Bryony was Head of International Student Recruitment at Bath Spa University, UK where she recruited students from around the world. And before Bath Spa, she was at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands where she was responsible for recruitment and admission of international students into masters programmes within the Faculty of Applied Sciences.
Bryony graduated with a first class honours degree in Chemistry from the University of Manchester in 1985. Her first job was at Unilever Research Laboratory, Port Sunlight, UK as a research chemist looking at the delivery of active ingredients in dental formulations. She moved into development of decorative cosmetics before Unilever sold the Rimmel colour cosmetics brand to Coty Inc. Bryony moved with the brand and switched from development to marketing. She helped Coty manage the Global relaunch of Rimmel and its first appearance in the US through Walmart. She moved to a small skincare company - Liz Earle Cosmetics, where she headed up marketing and operations before deciding on a career change and moved into Educational marketing.
Client Relationship Manager and Trainer
Naomi joined IDP in October 2011 and prior to this worked extensively in the commercial sector. Based in Manchester her role is to manage relationships our client universities and work with them on meeting their strategic objectives. She also holds additional responsibility for training the UK Client Relations Team, ensuring that skills are kept up to date meeting the needs of an ever changing world. On graduating from University of Leeds in 2004 she joined Enterprise Rent A Car’s Management programme and progressed quickly to branch manager, responsible for running a profitable operation. Given her academic background in languages she changed to the world of education in 2009 and began work for NCC Education, an awarding body in Business and IT courses and worked in Business Development, selling to Latin America, Europe, Russia and also the UK.
Client Relationship ManagerJames Curran took up the role of Client Relationship Manager at IDP in September 2014. His role is to manage the relationship between specific clients and the IDP network offices. He has over 17 years experience in international student recruitment, having joined us from the University of East London (UEL) where he was International Development Manager and then Head of International Development. During his time at UEL he led on the university’s international corporate marketing, communications and student recruitment activities. Prior to that, he worked as International Development Officer at London Metropolitan University where he managed the university’s international recruitment in several of its key markets.
James graduated with a joint honours degree in European Business Administration from the University of Wolverhampton in the UK and inHolland Univeristy in the Netherlands in 2001.
Client Relationship ManagerClaire works within IDP UK as a Client Relationship Manager. Her role is to manage and support the relationship between our UK clients and the IDP network.
Claire joined IDP from the University sector where she has worked in international student recruitment and support for over 15 years. Roles including Senior International Officer at Roehampton University and Associate Dean of International Affairs at the University of Wales, Newport. In her previous role Claire managed recruitment and student support staff and spent many years travelling globally to instigate and maintain student recruitment initiatives and international partnerships.
After graduating, Claire gained an MA for International Education Professionals from Nottingham University and co-run by UKCISA (UK Council for International Students) and also the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s Professional Diploma (CIM) co-run with the British Council.
Claire joined IDP in August 2014 and is based in Bristol travelling regularly to visit clients and the IDP UK Office in Cardiff.
Client Relationship Manager
Juhanie joined IDP UK in October 2016 as a Client Relationship Manager. His role is to manage and support the relationship between our UK clients and the IDP network.
He has over 15 years of experience in international education with responsibilities in marketing, business development and account management for partners of Australian universities and professional bodies in Hong Kong. He joins IDP from eight years at the British Council with roles of Regional Transnational Education Manager, Regional Client Relationship Manager, Education Manager and Account Manager. He holds a degree in Accounting and a Masters in Business Law.
As part of the Marketing Department, Petra works works closely with the Client Relationship Team and the overseas network to ensure the ongoing promotion of our UK clients. She is responsible for internal and external communication activities for the UK office, including management of the website, newsletters and hard copy.
Petra has been part of the IDP UK team for four years and in addition to marketing, has enjoyed roles within the Client Relationship Team as well as a six month secondment in Bangkok, as the UK Destination Manager for South East Asia.
A Cardiff University alumna, Petra holds a BScEcon in European Union studies, with Italian and German. She has a background working in educational tourism, sales and marketing.
Client Relationship Manager
Joe Paley took up the role of Client Relationship Manager at IDP in March 2017. His role is to manage the relationship between specific clients and the IDP network offices. He previously worked in the marketing department alongside Martyn Edwards and Petra Vahalova. He joined IDP in December 2015. A graduate of Cardiff University's School of Journalism, Joe worked in PR and for the Welsh examination board WJEC before joining IDP.
Laura BennettMarketing and Events Executive
Originally from Bristol, Laura moved to Cardiff in 2014 to study English Literature at Cardiff University. In the beginning of 2015, Laura joined IDP as a part-time student working alongside her studies. Having worked in Administration, with the Client Relations Team, and in Marketing, Laura has a gained a breadth of knowledge during her time with the company. Following her graduation from university in July 2017, Laura joined the IDP UK team as a Marketing and Events Executive and is responsible for the smooth running of the events we hold all over the UK. She is currently studying for a CIM marketing qualification.
As part of the Marketing department, Yen works closely with the Client Relationship Team to ensure the on-going promotion of our UK Clients. She is also responsible for all external communications ensuring that any developments at IDP are promoted outside of the company. Yen joined IDP in 2015 and has over 10 years experience working in the marketing departments within the university sector. Most recently she was Marketing Manager at the University of East London and prior to that she was Marketing Assistant at King's College London. Yen has a BSc in Psychology from the University of Manchester.
