Master of Science in Digital Media

The Digital Media (DIGM) program challenges students to push beyond what is known and into what is possible in digital media and emerging digital technologies. In the two-year MS program, DIGM students combine research with applicable skills in 21st-century media applications. This curriculum offers a mix of academic coursework and project-related activities in advanced digital design, including 3-D modeling; animation; interactivity; gaming; user experience design (UX); virtual and augmented reality (ARVR); digital media history, theory, and methods.Throughout their plan of study, students build upon those skills and develop a critical understanding of how digital media industries and emerging technologies evolve, so they can apply their knowledge and forecast what’s coming in the future to prepare employers or fuel entrepreneurial endeavors. Through the Digital Media program, students learn to expand their universe of possibilities in areas such as gaming, animation, virtual and augmented reality, or immersive media in general. In addition to the MS degree, the Digital Media program offers a PhD track for students who wish to excel their scholarship to advance their knowledge in the field of digital media and to apply it to research problems across disciplines. This is a STEM-designated program.
