Diploma of Information Technology

This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of information and communications technology (ICT) roles who have established specialised skills in a technical ICT function.Individuals in these roles carry out moderately complex tasks in specialist fields, working independently, as part of a team or leading deliverables with others. They may apply their skills across a wide range of industries, business functions and departments, or as a business owner (sole tradercontractor).

Information Technology is the new frontier in business. Even simple IT skills such as building a website or a database are increasingly in demand in all facets of business, large and small companies, all round the world. The Diploma of Information Technology includes training in a range of technological skills to enable graduates a variety of in-demand skills for business.

The skills required for these roles may include, but are not restricted to:

advanced networking: configuring and managing virtual computing environments, and security within ICT networks
advanced programming: applying intermediate and advanced programming skills, managing data and building advanced user interfaces to manage organisational requirements
developing and maintaining website information architecture and data
business analysis: designing and implementing technical requirements, quality assurance processes and contingency plans for businesses

There are no stated entry requirements in the Training Package for entry into ICT50120 Diploma of Information Technology. International students must be 18 years of age and provide evidence of: Year 12 or equivalent and above, and Any AQF qualification at the Certificate III level or above in any discipline area, delivered and assessed in English only, will be sufficient for meeting both the academic and English language entry requirements.

English Language Requirements: IELTS 5.5 with no band less than 5.0. Completion of 12 weeks of General English at Upper-Intermediate level or equivalent with a minimum B grade. Completion of Cambridge Course B2(FCE) with a minimum B grade. Completion of EAP1 with a minimum B grade.
