The High School Graduate Program is available for students studying for longer than one year with the intention of graduating from high school in South Australia. You can commence your studies at any point from Year 8 to Year 12, although direct entry into Year 12 has specific entry requirements. Undertaking the High School Graduate Program is exciting and presents many opportunities for you to experience other cultures, languages and lifestyles, improve your English language skills, choose new subjects, make friends and build your confidence.
Student counsellors at your chosen school will help and advise you on your subjects and pathway to tertiary studies.

Your application to study in a South Australian government school will be assessed individually and a program will be offered based on your English proficiency, academic achievements and commencement date. You will need to provide your recent school reports with your application to help us determine the most suitable program for you.
South Australian Government Schools recommends that the majority of students in all year levels complete an Intensive Secondary English Course (ISEC) before joining mainstream classes. Your level of English proficiency helps to determine how many terms of ISEC you will need, the cost of which is included in your program fees.
To enter directly into Year 11, you will need to provide evidence of your English proficiency if you are coming from a non-English speaking country. This should be an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 5.0 or equivalent. South Australian Government Schools may recommend that you complete one or two terms of ISEC, the cost of which is included in your program fees. This will help you to adapt to a different education system.
To enter directly into Year 12, you will need to provide evidence of your English proficiency if you are coming from a non-English speaking country (IELTS 5.5 or equivalent). In addition, you will need to have successfully completed Year 11 equivalent in your home country.
South Australian Government Schools will arrange homestay accommodation for international high school students if you are 12 years of age or over. Your homestay family will be matched to your needs and will help you experience life in South Australia.
You can also nominate to live with a relative or family friend.

Are you an international tertiary student studying in South Australia with school-aged children?
If you are an international tertiary student or scholarship holder studying in South Australia and have school-aged children, you will need to enrol them as Dependants.
