Overview

First opened in January 2020, M College attracts students from all over the world. It invites them to challenge themselves and work towards creating a successful future.

International students can choose from academic programs that lead to attestation of collegial studies (AEC). Programs are closely tailored to industry needs, giving students an edge in the competitive job market. They include specialized internships as well as networking events and other industry opportunities.

Classes are taught in English or French, and students can receive services in Arabic, Bulgarian, Chinese, Farsi, Italian, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. Programs last two years, but 2 programs offer a fast-track option for graduate students so that programs can be completed in one year.

Language Pathway Programs are available for those who need to improve their English or French abilities. International students can develop their language and academic skills and qualify for higher-level study at the college without the need for IELTS or TOEFL test scores.

Learning is led by dedicated staff and supported by modern resources. The campus is an inclusive and diverse environment where international students can access supportive student-focused services and facilities.

M College is based in LaSalle, Montreal. The location is ideal for students as it’s close to downtown Montreal and has all the amenities needed to enjoy life outside of the classroom. Well-connected by public transport, the area offers countless dining, shopping, entertainment, cultural and historical activities, and more. The city is student-friendly with a reasonable cost of living and was rated as the best student city in the world in 2017 with a safety index of 81 percent.

This is all underpinned by excellent facilities, with classrooms consisting of modern technology that complements program content. Staff lead students through a variety of education techniques. Classes are small in size, creating personalized and collaborative environments.

Programs are innovative, flexible and tailored to the needs of the professional world. This helps students have the best possible start to their careers after they graduate.

Experiential learning

All programs include an internship placement so that students can apply what they’ve learned in the classroom to real-life situations. Through internships, students build their professional networks and get closely acquainted with their future professions.

Department structure

The college offers a range of different programs to help students with their careers. They are designed to develop adult learners with the knowledge and skillsets they need for success in the competitive job market.

AEC programs

There are four options that lead to an Attestation of collegial studies (AEC):

  • Business Management
  • Project Management (Graphic Communication)
  • Multimedia Integration Techniques
  • Early Childhood Education

These programs are based on jobs where skilled graduates are in high demand. The curriculum has a focus on industry needs in conjunction with developing students into competent individuals who integrate seamlessly into Canada.

There are two options: regular track, where students can complete their programs in two years with two scheduled days a week or fast track, where students can complete their programs in one year with three scheduled days a week. Both provide plenty of opportunities for international students to explore Canada while working towards their chosen careers.

There are pathway programs for international students to improve either their English or French language abilities, to qualify for higher-level study at M College.

Business management

Business management

The Business Management (LCA.FK) program prepares students to be business management technicians. Students are trained in marketing, communications, finance, accounting, computing and customer service. Careers that can be followed could be in retail, wholesale, hospitality, tourism, or agribusiness as managers, supervisors, business owners and entrepreneurs. The program is taught in collaboration with Emploi-Québec and is taught in English or French.

Eligibility requirements

International students need the following, or equivalent to:

Regular track

  • Grade 12
  • IELTS overall score of at least 6.0 with no band lower than 5.5
  • At least 55 percent in core subjects

Fast track

  • Bachelor’s degree in related subject area
  • IELTS overall score of at least 6.5 with no band lower than 5.5, or an overall score of 6.0 with no band lower than 6.0
  • At least 55 percent in previous studies

Graphic communication

Graphic communication

The Project Management in Graphic Communication (NWC.07) program from M College helps students develop a deep understanding of all areas related to project management. It helps them become efficient and invaluable workers suitable for many areas such as technology and communication. Both public and private organizations need skilled individuals who can see projects through to completion. The program can be taught in either English or French.

Entry requirements

International students will need the following, or equivalent to:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related subject area
  • IELTS overall score of at least 6.5 with no band lower than 5.5, or an overall score of 6.0 with no band lower than 6.0
  • At least 55 percent in core subjects related to the program
  • A year’s work experience

This AEC gets students ready for positions including production logistics coordinators and supervisors of printing and related departments.

Multimedia integration techniques

Multimedia integration techniques

The Multimedia Integration Techniques (NWE.37) program suits those interested in widening their skill set and learning how to adapt to different areas of the multimedia industry. This includes creating video games, graphic design, animation, cinematic special effects and visual arts.

Students develop a strong foundation in areas of design, research, technique, production, analysis and quality control. They learn how to bring together all content elements of multimedia applications. The program is taught in collaboration with Emploi-Québec and is taught in English or French.

Eligibility requirements

International students need the following, or equivalent to:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related subject area
  • IELTS overall score of at least 6.5 with no band lower than 5.5, or an overall score of 6.0 with no band lower than 6.0
  • At least 55 percent in previous studies

This AEC gets students ready for positions including graphics technicians, web designers and developers, and graphic designer and illustrators.

Student support

Student support

International students can access guidance and assistance to support their educational experience at M College. Services include free airport pick-ups. They can be greeted when they first arrive at the airport by college staff and taken to their accommodation. The college can also help students find suitable accommodation near the campus.

Orientation

New student orientation lasts one week and is held just before classes start. Students attend sessions where they learn about the college, obtain school identification, fill out required documents, meet staff, make new friends with classmates, and more. They also receive information about transportation and the local area.

Career support

Three times a year, the college holds Career Days. These are for companies and employers to visit and meet students and recent graduates. Students can make valuable connections that will potentially help them secure a job.

All programs offered at the college are designed to include an internship to give students real-life work experience in their field of study. Students will study in a vibrant and exciting campus in a multicultural area of the city. The campus is more than just a series of classrooms, it has a spacious student lounge equipped with mobile charging stations, green spaces for students to enjoy and on-site parking.
