Washington University in St. Louis was founded in 1853. It is a medium sized independent university located in the nation’s centre and is counted among the world’s leaders in teaching, research, patient care and service to society. Over the course of its first 150 years, the University has made remarkable progress, growing from a college educating local men and women to an internationally known research university with students and faculty from approximately 110 countries. It creates an environment to encourage and support an ethos of wide ranging exploration.

The 169-acre Dan forth Campus is at the heart of Washington University and is the academic home to the majority of the university’s undergraduate, graduate and professional students. It’s Medical Centre spreads over 17 city blocks and 164 acres. The centre is home to the University School of Medicine in St. Louis and its affiliated hospitals, clinics, patient care centres and research facilities.
