Science, medicine and nursing students at ECU’s Joondalup Campus will benefit from the AUD 48 million science building development. With plans to be complete in 2020, the construction will be home to large laboratories, cyber security facilities and other industry-standard equipment.
The Bunbury Campus is also having construction work done. New lecture theatres, social spaces and technology will feature in the recently refurbished Building 6. Each of the university’s developments are in aid of improving the educational experience for all students.
ECU is at the forefront of progressive technology in Australia – the university has been using Virtual Reality to help train students in paramedic situations, exercising their response skills in terrorist and natural disaster scenarios. Researchers at the university have partnered with Virtual Guest, a local VR organisation, to produce equipment which fabricates mock large-scale casualty situations. The university is continuing research in areas such as this in order to produce graduates who are ready to combat real-world issues.
