Founded in 1785, University of Georgia is a land grant and sea grant University with state wide commitments and responsibilities is the state’s oldest, most comprehensive, and most diversified institution of higher education. It began as a commitment to inspire the next generation grows stronger today through global research, hands-on experiential learning and extensive outreach. The motto of the university is to teach, to serve, and to inquire into the nature of things. As Georgia’s flagship institution, it is recognized for its commitment to student excellence, particularly through an emphasis on rigorous learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom, hands-on research, and leadership opportunities.
At the university, the students will have the option to be able to accommodate in more than 170 fields of study, they have a lot of options from which to choose, majors as diverse as risk management and real estate, wildlife, dietetics, computer systems engineering and broadcast news, the opportunities to find your niche seem endless. It’s 17 colleges and schools enrol 36,000 students and have produced 305,000 alumni living worldwide. The eight Public Service and Outreach units, which are among the strongest in the nation, help create jobs, develop leaders and address critical challenges.
Located in the Classic City of Athens, approximately an hour northeast of Atlanta, the University of Georgia thrives in a community that promotes the benefits of a culture rich college town with a strong economic centre. The campus is home to more than 600 registered student and service organizations.
