Maryland Institute College of Art
Founded in 1826, Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) is the oldest continuously degree-granting college of art and design in the nation. It has become the leader in the education of artists and designers by fostering a community of talented, creative individuals committed to redefining the boundaries of art and design and to expanding their own vision and perspective through rigorous study. The college enrols nearly 3,500 undergraduate, graduate and continuing studies students from 49 states and 65 countries in fine arts, design, electronic media, art education, liberal arts, and professional studies degree and non-credit programs. The degree programs offered by the college includes bachelor of fine arts, master of arts, master of fine arts, master of arts in teaching and the post baccalaureate certificate. It also offers programs in continuing education ranging from individual courses for adults and youth to certificate programs offering a coherent course of study.
With art and design programs ranked in the top ten by U.S. News and World Report, MICA is pioneering interdisciplinary approaches to innovation, research, and community and social engagement. Its Office of International Education supports international students at MICA by providing advice on visa regulations, academic requirements, employment, travel, cultural adjustment, life in Baltimore and other issues. The college remains a cultural cornerstone in the Baltimore/Washington region, hosting hundreds of exhibitions and events annually by students, faculty and other established artists. The Decker Library is the campus library of the college and contains over 100,000 books and serials, over 5,000 DVDs and access to thousands of electronic journals through subscription databases and hundreds of print journal titles. Maryland Institute College of Art offers an innovative curriculum, well-equipped campus and world-class faculty to its students.
