Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is a nationally recognized, public institution offering students high-quality education programs. It features a 2,660-acre campus in a stunning setting, overlooking the Mississippi River, and is ranked amongst America's Top Colleges (Forbes Magazine). Students are able to access state-of-the-art equipment and facilities across new engineering, art and design and science buildings with a focus on research labs and design spaces.

SIUE offers a diverse campus and is one of only 35 schools nationally that have been awarded INSIGHT Into Diversity Magazine's award for Higher Education Excellence in Diversity for six or more consecutive years. Its student body includes representation of more than 50 countries across a population of nearly 13,000 students. Located a short drive away of the metropolitan city of St Louis, students can access various job opportunities, internships and full-time employment with major international companies. Campus Growth and Sustainability

SIUE has completed a USD 300 million construction and infrastructure improvement projects to enhance student life on campus and provide students with state-of-the-art equipment that will prepare them for their post-study careers.

All new campus construction is Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) certifiable by the U.S. Green Building Council. SIUE is second in the region for the number of LEED certified buildings on university campuses.

New turf Fields at the outdoor recreation complex

Campus Recreation has replaced the natural grass surface in the Outdoor Recreational Complex with synthetic turf on the soccer/football and softball fields.

Engineering Student Design Center

The School of Engineering recently completed a new Student Design Center. The two-story, 14,000-square-foot addition includes design team workspaces, a project prototyping workspace, design labs, and an engineer's alley to showcase projects.

Student Fitness Center weight room expansion

Campus Recreation recently expanded the weight room at the Student Fitness Center.

Engineering building addition

The USD 14.2 million Engineering Building addition offers students laboratory and work space that replicates industry standards, as well as opportunities to collaborate and assist on innovative research projects.

Science Building West

This new structure offers an exciting mix of sustainable features, reducing the university's carbon footprint, while providing much-needed space and state-of-the-art resources for its students.

Art & Design building renovation and expansion

This vibrant USD 16 million project provides a welcoming atmosphere for students.

The Charles and Mary Lukas Athletics Annex

SIUE offers students a rigorous and rewarding learning environment-80% of its full-time instructional faculty have the appropriate terminal degree for their discipline.

Study options are offered across a number of departments:

College of Arts and Sciences

Studies in the natural sciences, humanities, arts, social sciences and communications represent the core of liberal arts education and all learning at SIUE.

School of Business

SIUE's School of Business and the accountancy program are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International, representing the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide. The Princeton Review consistently lists SIUE as a top business school. More than 20,000 alumni have earned degrees from the School of Business, giving students access to an expansive business network after graduation.

School of Dental Medicine

Dental medicine students benefit from intensive clinical instruction and a broad range of patient-care opportunities. The International Advanced Placement Program enables qualified dentists who have graduated from an international dental school to pursue a Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree at our institution. This degree will allow the holder to take licensure examinations and to obtain a license to practice in the United States.

School of Education, Health and Human Behavior

This school prepares students in a wide range of fields including public health, exercise science, nutrition, instructional technology, psychology, speech-language pathology and audiology, educational administration, and teaching.

School of Engineering

This school offers one of the most comprehensive and affordable engineering programs in the region with eight undergraduate degrees, six master's degrees and four doctoral programs, all housed in a state-of-the-art facility.

SIUE is one of only three higher education institutions in the nation to be designated a Living Architecture Regiona Center of Excellence by Green Roofs for Healthy Cities and the Green Infrastructure Foundation. The university is recognized as a STARS Silver Institution by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education for accomplishments in campus sustainability. All new campus construction is Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) certified/certifiable by the U.S. Green Building Council. The campus includes a 120-foot wind turbine, 140 solar panels, and more than 17,500-square-feet of green roof space. The 35-acre gardens at SIUE and the 380-acre nature reserve are places where students and faculty take part in valuable research, lab projects and class assignments. The NCERC at SIUE is a nationally recognized research center dedicated to the development and commercialization of biofuels, speciality chemicals and other renewable compounds.

Student recreational facilities

In their leisure time, students can visit the Student Fitness Center. They can challenge themselves in the indoor rock-climbing gym or make a splash at the indoor pool. Students can join in one of the specially organized events, participate in sports clubs and fitness classes, or work out in one of the strength and free weight rooms. The campus bike share program gives students, faculty and staff an easy way to explore the many nature and biking trails available on or adjacent to SIUE's campus


The university offers a variety of housing options. First-year students live in one of three undergraduate residence halls. Postgraduate students live in Evergreen Hall or Cougar Village Apartments. All units are fully furnished, air conditioned, and have access to wireless internet and cable television. Each facility has accessible living units available that are specially designed for students with disabilities. Living on campus means living among friends, being close to classes, gaining access to helpful resources and feeling connected to the university.

Scholarships & funding

Scholarships & funding

SIUE offers nationally accredited academic programs of study and affordable tuition. Scholarships, graduate assistantships, competitive graduate awards, and a low cost of living make SIUE an affordable choice for a quality education.

Undergraduate scholarships

International undergraduate students are eligible to apply for the Meridian Scholarship, which offers full tuition, fees, room and board. All academically eligible new international students will receive a special Geographic Enhancement Opportunity (GEO) tuition rate. GEO awardees save a minimum of USD 9,488 per year, and more than USD 47,000 over the course of a four-year bachelor's degree.

Postgraduate scholarships

Admitted international postgraduate students who are academically eligible will receive a special Geographic Enhancement Opportunity (GEO) tuition rate. GEO awardees save a minimum of USD 7,719 per year, and more than USD 13,000 for a master's degree. International graduate students may also apply to their academic department for postgraduate assistantships and awards. Currently, more than 70% of the international students at SIUE have an assistantship. Approximately 30% of competitive postgraduate awards are given to international students.
